Human ancestors quickly found their feet

New Scientist;"Hominids started walking on two legs six million years ago, shortly after diverging from chimpanzees, according to a study of the inner structure of a fossilised thighbone. The finding puts upright posture at the base of the human family tree. The evolution of upright posture is a key issue in anthropology. Together with large brain size, it marks the dividing line between humans and the great apes. Researchers know that upright posture evolved first because the skeleton of famed Australopithecine, Lucy, has a small braincase but modern ankles. Yet with few known fossils older than about four million years, the details of how and when upright posture evolved have been hazy. Over the past few years, however, two important new finds have begun to fill in the gaps. The older animal is Sahelanthropus tchadensis, which lived in Chad six to seven million years ago, but only its hominid cranium was found. More complete is the chimpanzee-sized Orrorin tugenensis, as 20 fossils from at least five individuals have been found in Kenya. These are about six million years old. In knuckle-walking chimps, the cortex is the same thickness on the top and bottom of the bone. However, bipedal, upright walking applies different forces, which means the cortex in humans is at least four times thicker on the bottom part of the bone. Senut found that the lower part of the thighbone in Orrorin is three times thicker than the upper - making its walking habits much closer to humans than chimps."

Man Jailed & $ 2000 Fine

NBC-6;" Idaho Falls Idaho-Due to his family's pet.Two witnesses say they saw a little girl walking her dog on a leash, when two miniature pinchers ran across the street from their house. Witnesses say the dogs began to fight and that the girl was dragged out into the road. Witnesses say they ran to help the girl and got the dogs to go home. The witnesses say the owner of the dogs, stood in his yard and watched the whole incident. According to the father, his son did go out and see if the girl was okay, and took his dog's home. The girl was then taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for her injuries. He was cited for having a dog at large. Received a $2,000 dollar fine and is currently serving 10 days in jail. "The dogs saw each other; went over to investigate, and by the time my son had gotten out moments later, the Shepherd had pulled the girl to the street. She had abrasions, so my son went over; helped her up and asked if she was okay; she said yes I'm alright.But she said-"He never left his yard; I saw him when I got half way down the street. I saw him standing there. He never came to the street; he never even touched the girl or asked if she was okay anything."

This seems to always be a problem in most towns, my children come home at least once week and tell me about some dog that scared them on their way home from school. More needs to be done about things like this next time it could be worst for some other little child.

Hey!! Panties-Flashed At Republican Convention

The Times;" The Republican convention lunged to climax as President George W. Bush. Then, as the delegates cheered, 150,000 red, white and blue balloons dropped from the rafters of Madison Square Garden to the convention floor, where they were arrested by New York police officers for falling without a permit. This is a good time to reflect on the differing policies presented by the two parties, and consider the implications of these differences for the nation and the world. But instead I want to tell you about the. The Panty Flash was a demonstration Wednesday evening in Battery Park by 100 women belonging to an anti-Bush group called "Axis of Eve." They'd announced that they were going to flash their panties to make an important point that did not seem, from the announcement, all that clear. Nevertheless, the Panty Flash drew several hundred media people, which is WAY more than you're going to see for, say, global warming. This media crowd -- which, you will be surprised to learn, was overwhelmingly male -- formed a semi-circle around the protesters, keeping a respectful distance and behaving with the decorum and almost reverent solemnity of guys who know that, if they don't mess it up, women will show them their panties. Also on hand were some Wall Street workers who had paused on their way home to be part of this important protest. I stood near two suit-wearing guys who were inching their way forward to the front of the crowd when one of them grabbed the other's arm and said, "Jesus, there's a camera straight across." The two of them quickly melted back into the crowd, apparently not wishing for their spouses to see them on the evening news. ("Working late, Frank? IS THAT WHAT YOU CALL WORKING LATE??") Finally, after much respectful media anticipation, the protesters began chanting a chant that I cannot repeat in the newspaper except to say that it utilized wordplay involving the president's last name. Then a spokesperson read a statement, which I couldn't hear, although her tone sounded very sincere. Then the protesters flashed their panties, and chanted "THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!" The press corps, performing its vital First Amendment role of keeping you, the public, informed on the issues, took 174 billion closeup photographs of the various panties. Then the protesters chanted several more chants, the most printable being "THE PANTY LINE'S BEEN DRAWN; WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?" I know what you're thinking: These things have gotten completely out of hand. They're silly, vulgar, tasteless, pointless exercises in self-indulgence. I could not agree with you more. We're talking about the conventions, right?"

This made me chuckle, its amusing what a women can get if she just shows a little skin....

HUD Rolling Back Cuts in Rent Aid

washingtonpost.com;"The government is restoring millions of dollars that were to be cut in the program that helps poor families pay the rent. The Department of Housing and Urban Development is putting back about $156 million after reviewing public housing authorities' appeals of a decision in the spring restraining spending on Section 8 voucher financing. The money will be distributed to 379 of the 398 housing authorities that appealed.
The voucher program helps nearly 2 million families through about 2,500 local agencies. Director of the Council for Large Public Housing Agencies, said that the action resolved months of uncertainty. "Old and disabled people had the scare of their lives wondering if they would be evicted," she said. The $13 billion program was changed when President Bush signed the current budget into law in January. The department said it would reimburse housing authorities for vouchers based on Aug. 1 costs, plus an inflation adjustment. Critics have said the department's reading of the budget is incorrect and the government should update voucher costs every three months to reflect the cost of living."
This is a very important progam for a lot of people, especially the Disabled and Older people. Because without it a lot of people could just make ends meet, I know people who who are on the waiting list now for this progam and the they have been told just alone where I live that, they have to go on a waiting list that only after 2-years, they go on another list. Now this waiting list is where you name stays depending on if you keep up without he paper-work they send you and it don't get lost in the mail saying-when and if you'll get a voucher depending when someone else goes off the progam or they give more.- The sad part about this progam is that their is not enough of these vouchers as they call them, to go around. I'm sure a large part of them end up being ear-marked, for the bigger cites -On the East and West Coast, where as I feel only a small few ever make it in to the rest of the states. Personal I feel they should do a few things different with this progam. What you may ask? Well For starters- I understand more people live in the bigger cities..But what about the rest that live in smaller states also,they also have proverty problems as well as the next person. I think they should give the same amount to each state-regardless if they need more. And if they feel this is not the answer then they should allow more vouchers, but still give the same amount regardless how short that will make the government. Or Do!! Something about the high cost of living, because everytime they give a pay increase! Its a waste because then people just raise the prices on everything and it did no good to do anything. Because then we are just back in the same boat again. Personally I feel if they did something like this it could maybe balance abit more: raising the pay-wages for people by double, if not more, and put a freeze on the cost of living and freeze business- Landlords-Ult.companys-Ect. Any thing that usually get raised when they do a wage thru out the states. And hold it at this for at least 3-5 years to get people more willing to, get back on their feet. I feel this alone would fix our welfare and poverty problems. Then at the end of this time. Give another raise in wages to go with the all the things that will sky rocket, at the end of the freeze and only allow these place to raise to the small point that it don't put people back in the places we all are now. I know you all may think I am crazy, but heck think about it everyone but the rich man would profit from this!!!

Citizen Diddy

He has become a political activist, taking $250,000 of his own money to found a new organization called Citizen Change. He boasts he will drive up voting among the 45 million hip-hop young, who are, he says, "disenfranchised and so, so, so [angry] at being on the sidelines." He has a shocking slogan -- "Vote or Die" -- plastered on 70,000 T-shirts now selling for $30 at stores from Macy's to J.C. Penney. In the promotional materials."I wanted something dramatic, that would strike up controversy," says Diddy. When the president is running your country, he is running you. The way he sees it, the hip-hoppers already are wearing his clothes and buying his records and letting him tell them what's cool. They'll listen up when he tells them to register and get to the polls. He sees himself as the third rail of American politics. "I'm their worst nightmare," Diddy declares, referring to the two political parties. "I'm closer than Kerry or Bush to these 45 million votes." I found this to be one of the biggest jokes I have read so far in this, election so far. I think what I am trying to figure out is?..Who is using who..LOL

Judge Orders Demonstrators Freed

washingtonpost.com;"NewYork- A criminal court judge ordered the release of hundreds of Bush protesters ruling that police held them illegally without charges for more than 40 hours. As the protesters began trickling out of jail, they spoke of being held without access to lawyers, initially in a holding cell that had oil and grease spread across the floor. Several dozen of those detained said that they had not taken part in protests. Police apparently swept up the CEO of a puppet theater as he and a friend walked out of the subway to celebrate his birthday. Two middle-age women who had been shopping at the Gap were handcuffed, and a young woman was arrested as she returned from her job at a New York publishing house. Criminal Court Judge John Cataldo held city officials in contempt of court for failing to release more than 500 detained demonstrators. The judge said that the detentions violated state law, and he threatened to impose a fine of $1,000 per day for each person kept in custody longer than 24 hours without being arraigned. As of Thursday evening, about 168 people still in detention had been held for more than 24 hours. Dirty and tired, and with matted hair, many fell into the arms of those who waited. But others, who had been handcuffed and said they had not been given medicines for asthma and epilepsy, sat on blankets in a park across the street and sought attention from medics."I was held for 44 hours without being able to call my family or talk to a lawyer,"one of 14 college students who was arrested while standing with antiwar picket signs at 34th Street and Sixth Avenue. "We were taken to a big metal cage, and the ground was covered with a black, cakey motor oil. We were given one apple each after nine hours." In all, police arrested more than 1,700 people, or nearly three times as many as were arrested in Democratic National Convention, which had far more violence. Police have used large orange nets and riot and motorbike squads to sweep up dozens of alleged protesters. Michael Sladek, who owns a film production company in Brooklyn, was arrested in Midtown two evenings ago as he photographed the police and demonstrators. He spent 48 hours in custody without access to a phone."For us, it was very clear this was a detention to keep people off the street," "And the saddest thing was that so many people had nothing to with protesting the convention." Those coming out of the jail in southern Manhattan said that police never advised them of their right to talk to an attorney. And several people, independent of one another, said police told them that if they signed a document admitting guilt and waiving the right to sue for false arrest, they would be released early. Detainees said that after being arrested, they were crowded into makeshift holding cells at a bus cleaning station on the Hudson River piers, where many spent the night awaiting transfer to jail. In some cells, they said, teenage girls and women were kept overnight amid dozens of men. Many protesters spoke of seeing signs at the piers warning of hazardous chemicals. Once in the city jail, detainees said, they were shifted among as many as 10 cells in 48 hours without explanation, unable to sleep. Medics said the Department of Health had asked them to gather samples of the detainees' clothing to test for exposure to toxic chemicals from the holding cell. Medics found numerous cases of rashes and skin infections, apparently as a result of cuts from overly tight handcuffs that were exposed to chemicals."

This had to be really frightening for anyone walking down the streets in NewYork. No wonder people packed-up and left town for a week, I think the worst part of reading this was alot of the people were just going on with their everyday life, and got thrown in jail! Because they were walking in the wrong place at the wrong time, and not thinking much of it till it was to late!!

Kerry Takes Off Gloves

"I'm going to leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more qualified than two tours of duty," Kerry said. Cheney received a series of deferments from 1962 to 1966 for college and graduate school and then for having a child. "Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty," Kerry said. "Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead this nation. Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting 45 million Americans go without health care makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting the Saudi royal family control our energy costs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Handing out billions [in] government contracts without a bid to Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit." "We're going to be very aggressive throughout the fall in painting the real picture of George Bush. We are going to remind voters of what George Bush said in 2000 and what he did." An ad that will run in Pennsylvania, for example, will say that Bush promised health care for seniors four years ago but that now millions remain without health insurance and drug prices are soaring. "It's time for a president who understands that a stronger America begins at home. It's time to stop rewarding companies for shipping jobs overseas. To get health care costs under control. And to end America's dependence on Middle East oil." America's heartland, but it's been hit hard. In the past four years, Ohio has lost 230,000 jobs. President Bush insists the economy is just fine. We know America can do better." "He's picked the side of the trial lawyer over doctors and patients," One ticks off Bush's agenda: "Lower health care costs. Allow small businesses to band together to get insurance rates big companies get. Tax-free health savings accounts [that] families own. Stop junk lawsuits against doctors and hospitals. . . . Every eligible child with health coverage." In another, the president touts "a fairer, simpler tax code" and promises to "strengthen Social Security." Kerry has run mainly positive spots for six months in the face of relentless negative advertising by Bush."

Okay Now we know what Bush promised,and we still are waiting to see...Sure it's 60-days from election-time and all of a sudden hes rushing to put things in place before November. If he felt these things he promised us was so important to promise them to us then he should of done all these things. Within the first 2-years of office, I feel. Rushing to put them in place like the Medicare progam and all of a sudden a push for, school-children & health-care for them. Is like, getting a cheesy throw together package deal from A. Used-Car-Salesmen...Makes me worried is this the best deal I can get?

And again I keep waiting to hear more on what Kerry is going to do for us. Beside tell us that he is going to do everything Bush-say.. But-BETTER ?

Searching for the Naked Women Protesters?

The Times-News;";"NewYork -- I'm not 100 percent certain the Republican convention is truly here. I say this because although the sidewalks are bustling with humanity, none of these humans look like Republican convention delegates, unless the Republicans are suddenly into nose piercings.I'm wondering if this is a clever ruse wherein the Republicans told everybody they were coming to New York to lure the protesters and media here, while the GOP holds its real convention at a more traditionally Republican locale, such as Bermuda.If so, it's working: There are plenty of protesters here, and apparently some of them are naked. I've been unable to visually confirm this, although you may rest assured I'm trying. For example, I heard a report that some women had gotten naked in Central Park to protest the Bush administration's health-care policies. So, as a journalist deeply interested in health care, I took a taxi to Central Park, where I encountered two New York City police officers, and we had this conversation, which I am not making up:

ME: Is this the way to the naked women protesters?

FIRST POLICE OFFICER: I hope so.

SECOND POLICE OFFICER: We'll follow you.

Bush Verses Kerry Who Would You Choose?

Pocatello Journal;" President Bush - had it right the first time when he told an interviewer this week he didn't think the U.S. can win a war on terror. The Republican wordsmiths rushed to repair the damage, explaining that the president was simply pointing out the unconventional nature of the conflict, and was not retreating in the face of terrorist actions. Here's what Bush said when he was asked on television, whether America could win its war on terror. "He was talking about winning it in the conventional sense ... About how this is a different kind of war and we face an unconventional enemy," McClellan. It is a mistake to take Bush's comment out of context. In the same interview, he said "You cannot show weakness in this world today because the enemy will exploit that weakness. It will embolden them and make the world a more dangerous place." The president's comments were an acknowledgment that his earlier prediction of a quick victory was a hallucination.

Garage Strip Clubs Thriving

"I keep my windows closed now," says a mother, who works as a loan officer with three children lives across from the club. That type of element is an accident waiting to happen."

Iran - Nuclear Weapons

New Scientist;" International inspectors have found no clear evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. But there are important questions that still need to be answered, they say. "Great concern" that Iran was planning to convert 37 tonnes of yellowcake, made from uranium ore, into uranium hexafluoride gas. This is the gas that is fed into centrifuges to be enriched. Or to make nuclear warheads, depending on the level of enrichment. Iran defends its right to develop nuclear power, but denies that it is developing nuclear weapons. A confidential report on findings, has been obtained, says that Iran's explanation of why particles of highly enriched uranium were found at two sites. Iran has maintained that the uranium came from contamination of equipment imported from Pakistan. Samples taken at the Lavizan Shiyan Technical Research Centre in Tehran – suspected to harbour secret military activities - are still being analysed. Iran claims it had been a legitimate research centre set up in 1989 to help the victims of a nuclear attack. The US, however, says it reinforces its call for Iran to be referred to the UN Security Council."

All evidences show that this war is Wrong and Not Necessary.( For more details on the righteousness of this war see article: WAR AGAINST IRAQ )- The first cleaning team: It came from a quite unusual side.-The second cleaning team: Korea and Japan: They advocate talks and the ease of tensions through negotiations.-The third cleaning team: Russia and China: They will exert alternatively pressure and offers until the situation become less dangerous- The fourth cleaning team: - The United nations: It is another puzzling initiative from the US government who is demanding that this crisis should be handled now by the United Nations. The fifth cleaning team: -..Anybody but President Bush and his team!!. President Bush trademark policy is to tailor made any of his actions to help him stay in power and the good of the American People is almost never a priority. Three major drawbacks in this plan First: Their is no provision to clearly abandon War on Iraq. The uncertainty on Iraq is the key element in damaging the Economy. Second: The plan gives more money to the riches than the poor and it does not take a rocket scientist to understand that a couple with children on a medium low income will immediately spend money for children clothes or to change the old car than a well off family with plenty of saving in stocks will. Third: As years of recessions are forecasted ahead, this tax cut will increase the budget deficit, lead the USA away from sound economic practices. The Budget deficit which is what each American citizen owes to lenders on top of their personal debts such as credit cards will increase very importantly. The first Cleaning team: -. The American congress; they should divide the Amount of the Tax cut by two, getting rid altogether of the elimination of the tax on stock dividends. The Results: hard to forecast but the Democratic party is such a mediocre entity that expectations are not high..The second cleaning team: The American People; a team of, 280 000 000 citizens who will be saddled with debts and inflation in the future. The result: from such a gigantic team who in this case is directly concerned, nothing will happen and they will unfortunately trust their incompetent leaders. The third cleaning team: - Future generations will have to suffer from debts that they will have to reimburse one way or the other. The result: Economic uncertainty. It seems that President Bush policies are not only detrimental but Dangerous for the country."

Where labor is cheap.

Many American corporations have moved to foreign countries where labor is cheap. These corporations make huge profits because they ship their cheaper goods back to the U.S. duty free. Example, the Nike Corp. Moved to South Korea, Vietnam and China. Labor costs $10 to $11 per hour to make shoes in the U.S., but only about 11 cents per hour in Asia. These goods are shipped back to the U.S., after which the corporations dramatically increase the price of these imported goods to maximize their profits. Why has our government allowed this unfair situation to exist and become worse each day? Why? Because corporate America is donating millions, if not billions of dollars to political campaigns and political action committees. Our government has been purchased by U.S. corporate conglomerates, and many congressional delegates have become totally corrupt by accepting campaign donations and then voting for the conglomerate's best interest instead of what's best for the people. We should support Sen. John McCain and his proposal for campaign reform and honest government for a change. Incidentally, none of our Idaho congressional delegates support campaign reform. In view of the above, President Bush and all Idaho congressional delegates should be replaced next election."

And American People still need to ask why we our living on Food-Stamps, Un- Employment, Working 2-3 jobs per a Household, Crime is up, Prisons are full, More Americans on Anti-depressions then 10-years ago, Our Forest are Dying... And so is the American Dream !

The Bush Future

Another recent piece from the New York Review of Books outlines a report that was prepared by two energy consultants, one of them the former head of planning for Royal Dutch/Shell. The scenario laid out in the report is of a world changed by the greenhouse effect. A flooding of the Atlantic by the melting of Artic ice would effectively destroy the climate-controlling Gulf Stream by 2010. With this, eastern North America and western Europe would become drastically cooler while the rest of the world would continue to grow warmer.
This would lead directly to a shortage of grain. The report predicts this would in turn lead to war over a desperate need for natural resources. Since the Environmental Protection Agency under George W. Bush dropped the chapter on greenhouse gas emissions from its air quality report in 2002, and since he rejected the Kyoto Protocol, which would have curbed the United States, emission of greenhouse gases, one must assume that the current president cares little for the potential threat to national security that global warming will one day present. Considering all this, one thought is unavoidable: while John F. Kerry isn't as lively as we might wish, neither is he as deadly as George W. Bush."

Sentenced for witness intimidation

10 years, handed down by Fifth District Judge G. Richard Bevan of, for the crime of witness intimidation, and prosecuted by Deputy Attorneys General Ken Robins and Ken Stringfield. This is a quote from a press release regarding the case, issued by the Idaho Attorney Generals Office on July 8, 2004:

"The charges arose from an incident in Fifth District Court in Twin Falls on June 2, 2003. Following sentencing of her husband on other charges, Jones touched and shouted at two witnesses in that case. Jones was taken into custody and later indicted by a Twin Falls County grand jury. Following a trial in April of 2004, a jury convicted her of two counts of witness intimidation."

(As you read this, please keep in mind that this was Mrs. Jones' first offense.) Cassie Jones suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder, and has had that diagnosis for a number of years. The use of prescription medication has been successful in decreasing the frequency of symptomatic episodes for her, but at the time of the crime that she was convicted of, she was eight months pregnant. Why this is important is because she was not allowed to take her medication in fear of harming her baby, along with the fact that she wanted to breast feed. This was her Doctor's order. Although counseling sessions during this time helped to a point, without her medication, the disorder impairs her ability to function in a consistent, rational pattern and therefore proves to be a disruptive influence in her life. The sentencing of her husband was a time of great stress, and only exacerbated the situation. I respectfully request that you examine the mitigating circumstances surrounding the incident, and reconsider the overly harsh and unjust sentence. First off let me say! The Gov. Of New York is Republican as you can see. Second, He's surely not going to admit that things could get ugly because of Bush being their in regards to 9/11 bombing. What he should of really said is - I PRAY!! - nothing bad happens while the R.N.C is in town, at least then people would see him as trying to try be honest about it... I'm sorry he's just the Governor, unless he knows something everyone else don't know and he can see into the future!!

Party felt they should have the- RNC in New York. I myself don't feel after 9/11 was the proper place to hold something like this, I will say tho- I am happy to hear that People remain some what, calm while doing their protesting event.

Ashamed He Helped Bush

GOVERNMENT TO TAKE OVER TERRORIST WATCH LISTS FROM AIRLINES

The chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee on aviation says it'll take a year to put Secure Flight in place after the testing. He thinks that's too long. Having the government take over passenger screening is a recommendation by the Nine-Eleven Commission."

I say sure Now! Mr. Bush wants to play the big guy and come in and do something with airlines. My question to this is..One-why didn't he do this back before 9/11 happened it wasn't like he didn't know their was a possible threat! Two- I truly feel this is nothing more then a re-elect ME-ME!! He likes to rent traps from the Animal Shelter, trap little gray squirrels, cook 'em and eat 'em. He likes 'em with gravy. Jay?... Are you playing the home version of Fear Factor? If so, are you using the full deck? If not, I am concerned that you may have contracted Mad Squirrel Disease. I don't believe many guests will be joining you this Thanksgiving, whether you go with a rich, nutty Cabernet or choose a smokey Fume' Blanc.

Fish and Game shrewdly realized that the bear could be a problem drinker and thought of the campground as his bar...Where everyday is Happy Hour...And "...Everybody knows your name...".Norm! Fish and Game woke Norm up and he lumbered into the woods, only to come back the next morning. (Probably looking for a Bloody Mary special.) Fish and Game was ready. They had a live-trap baited with two cans of the hair of the dog, a naugahyde bar stool and a neon sign. I reckon that nobody at Fish and Game wanted to pull that shift at The Bear Trap Bar. It was a self-serve deal. Word has it that Norm has been relocated to the Betty Ford Clinic.
Yes, sometimes the world can be a mighty cruel place. Sometimes people want to say "Goodbye" to it. EXPEDITION SEEKS 50-MILLION YEAR RECORD OF EARTH'S CLIMATE

BUSH SAYS HE EXPECTS TO WIN RE-ELECTION

MIDWEST YIELDS BIGGER SPIDERS

Bomb Threat Made On Vet- Hospitals

The F-B-I and the Homeland Security Department say there's no credible information on a specific threat against Veterans Affairs hospitals. The bulletin mentions "possible reconnaissance activities" this year at facilities in Bethesda, Maryland, and Aurora, Colorado -- although no terrorism links have been uncovered. The warning -- distributed among law enforcement and security personnel -- is urging continued vigilance at V-A hospitals nationwide. Officials have repeatedly said that al-Qaida may attempt an attack inside the United States before the November election."

This one is really one that bothered me about the wars. It's not bad enough these soldiers already were hurt in fighting a war for us against them, but now they want to come back and finish killing our soldiers they didn't get the first time around. I wish I knew a way to make all this just stop, Its gotten to the point of sinking to levels of plain dis-respect towards the weak and cripple, how cruel do you have to be to do this?

A pacemaker implanted in Nolan Kashat's brain is helping the ten-year-old walk, sit up straight and ride a bike again. Nolan hadn't walked in three years due to dystonia -- a neurological disorder in which muscles contract uncontrollably. Son had been killed in Iraq

Carlos Arredondo climbed into a Marine van outside his home and set himself and the van on fire yesterday. Marines had driven to his home to tell him his son had died in Iraq. Doctors say he is in serious condition at the the major burn unit at a Miami hospital. They say he has burns on 50 percent of his body. His wife tells A-B-C he's expected to recover. She describes his actions as "his scream that his child is dead." Sne added, "The war needs to stop."

Had my TV on in the back-ground, and heard this news-update. This is really sad, my heart goes out this father, and his wife. Maybe some one should let Bush know what is now happening to families. Because of this- UGLY- War !!

I see this more and more every day just in the town, where I live. And keep asking myself, what has changed in our world so much. For our young children to become like this... sad

My Vietnam War

I See this to be a really growing problem a lot in our world today, I know just in my town alone. A few friends of mine, who now are raising their children's-children...

I say..This is because many of our high-tech jobs, are moving over sea's. Called- Compaq's -help line the other day and I was routed, found out when asking the person on the other end of the phone. He was in New Delhi India! Sure the big guy's will say they had to move out of the country because of a loop-hole to money. But what I find interesting is that these corporation's are now! Pay, these people. Sweat-Shop wages..And also charging us more for their products! Seems to me that if these big-factory's want to move to another country, then maybe we shouldn't allow them to sell their products back to us. Soon the American dream will be... To live in another counrty not... United States.

This is something we can do now with our computers, think of all the places you can go to for research that you couldn't, a few years ago . Also, it gives our children something to read and learn, who they are and where they came from when.

Off Welfare But Still Struggling

I hear about this problem a lot around town because some of these people don't want to get off of Welfare, they lose a lot..Heck I sat down one day and looked at what I would get if I lived on welfare if I did the progams the way they set it up over 24-months..(don't get me wrong this is not a get way of life, I couldn't do it I don't think. But some people can't seem to get past it and after looking at the figures, I could see why) You get the big one-Health care and meds. Paid for FREE, Family of -3- get around $500.00mo. in Foodstamps, FREE -child-care while doing their- progam training or what ever they want you to do, Telephone bills-reduced, Ult. Asset., rent-asset.-pay around $30.00 month depending on size of family or home, in low-income-rentals.) You make get mad at me... For my feelings but Hell maybe we should all should go on welfare I scrape to get bye day after day. And I go into the groc-store and see people buying Steak, Shrimp,candy,pop,chips, with a Quest-Card. And here I am running around with a list trying to buy $5.00 worth of hamb. To make it look like its a steak...

It seems that the only thing they both seem to want to talk about is the wars, right now. As far as I am concerned I am not going to pick a President over who gives me the best war issuse's today. I want to know what else he is going to do, to help me as a Voter. Far as I am concerned, Choosing a President, is no different then me to going to Micky-D's, or anyplace. And applying for a job! Their both going to have to fill out a Job Appt. in my eyes. And I will see, because I want to know what he can do for me to make my world better, and other Americans. HERE!! In the United States Of America...Not who can make the war a better one!!

Iraqi Government Gives Militants Deadline

Pocatello Idaho State Journal;"NAJAF, Iraq - U.S. and Iraqi forces battled militants Tuesday in Najaf, sending plumes of black smoke over the holy city as Iraq's government warned fighters loyal to a radical cleric. U.S. Helicopter gunships and Bradley fighting vehicles were attacking militant positions in downtown Najaf, and militants returned fire with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades. Witnesses said Iraqi forces accompanied U.S. troops into the Old City, were stationed about 200 yards from the shrine, assailants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a U.S. patrol on Monday night, killing one soldier and wounding two others, one of the soldiers died. As of Monday, 958 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the U.S. Defense Department."

This has got to stop!! Our soldiers are dying. And for what!! So that we can say we help some other counrty find Peace? Or so they don't think we are a weak counrty, and come back and do what they did to cause the - 9/11 trauma? I have never hated a war as much as I do this one...I'm sorry this is just how I feel, it's become to much pain to deal with any more.....

Soldiers will leave, but how to get home?

Pocatello Journal-Views;"The 1,300 or so National Guard soldiers from Idaho who are training at Fort Bliss, Texas, will get 10 days to two weeks leave before shipping out for Iraq in November or December. That's nice. Trouble is, if the soldiers want to come home during that time, they are on their own. Air fare is about $350 per person and the government isn't paying it. Help in that respect is forthcoming from several sources around the state. To bring the troops home on leave, since the Army isn't doing it. There hardly seems a more worthwhile cause.If you would like to help, telephone 208-422-5268, or contact the National Guard for information."

Birthright of American People

Idaho State Journal: "Dissent is a birthright of America. People have come to this nation seeking freedom. People have fought and died for this nation and its freedoms. That freedom is more than the freedom to agree with the policies and personalities of the party in power, Republican or Democrat. America was born of dissent against rule by George III. Early politics was filled with much more vitriol than we see today. Jefferson was called the Anti-Christ, Adams was labeled a warmonger with ambitions of kingship, and a partisan newspaper of the day termed the common sewer of all filth in the state. In later years, presidential candidates were tarred with claims about fathering bastards, mental disease and morals that would do credit to Satan. It is the same today. And when the ballots are counted in November, the losing side will complain that the voters were swayed by the demagoguery of the other side. They will say that had the people known the facts and made their choices based on those facts, the results would have changed. Why not give people the chance to know those facts now, when it will make a difference? Instead of making rabid attacks on the other side, why not look for the facts about the upcoming election. Who can be afraid of the truth: The person who knows his position is supported by reality or the person who fears the voting public will find out what is really going on? Let us rely less on an advocate's ability to shout louder and spin harder and rely more on objective facts. Let us seek out reliable sources whose facts we check out instead of simply and blindly accepting them. Finally, let us be accountable for the government we have. It is, after all, a government of the people, by the people and for the people."

I don't think I need to say anything to this. Because this writer said it all,I agree, We do have the right to make up our own minds don't let no-one tell you other wise.

Mother Leaves Infant To Die In Dumpster

Idaho State Journal: "Women who gave birth, was charges with the death of a newborn found in a trash bin in February. Baby was found in a Dumpster at 303 N. Hayes Ave. The community raised money to provide her with a funeral and gravestone. An unknown man found the tiny body wrapped in a plastic grocery sack in a cardboard box and called police. An autopsy confirmed the baby had been alive and healthy at birth, Involuntary manslaughter and felony injury to a child each carry possible 10-year sentences. Since July 2001, Idaho's Safe Haven Act has allowed women to anonymously leave babies at medical facilities without fear of prosecution or questioning. The law applies to babies .It is designed to protect children and women who are afraid of prosecution or being questioned and condemned. These things don't have to happen, there were people in the community who would have taken her."

This story is a sad one, I remember this day well my daughter's friend lived in this apt. blding. Which is only 2-blks from the High School and a half a-mile from my home. I just don't understand why she did what she did, to throw away a human life like that and not think about going back to get it. Her own flesh..Good God !! She had just gave birth to it that day, in the very apt.Blding. To just walk out the back-door into the ally and throw her new-baby in the TRASH!! Like its day old garbage. Then walk back inside to her home and not give it another thought, She is one cold B.......(won't say the word)
